Apollo is the most paradoxical of all the Olympian gods — simultaneously the deity of light and darkness, healing and plague, reason and creative frenzy. He is the god of music, the inventor of the lyre, and the patron of every artist who has ever felt simultaneously blessed and cursed by their gift. The lyre did not come to Apollo through study or discipline. According to myth, the infant Hermes fashioned the first lyre from a tortoise shell and gifted it to him. Apollo picked it up and played — and the sound that came out moved gods and mortals alike. Music, for Apollo, was never learned. It was simply released. Like Apollo, I have spent most of my life following my muses wherever they led. As a professional free spirit, I have lived with no blueprint, no predetermined trajectory. More like a vine searching for the light, finding its way as it goes. In this piece, the flowers are arranged in no particular pattern, and the vines find their own path between the blooms. The result is not a garden but a wilderness with its own intentions. This piece , built upon a brand new, fully functional Les Paul Custom, was assembled with jeweler-grade adhesive and finished with a durable UV protective clear coat. Apollo's twin, Artemis, an Alpine white Les Paul with golded hardware is currently on the workbench.
