Artist's Statement
From the stage to the studio, music has been my conduit for connection and joy. Now, as a retired touring musician, my Gilded Guitars serve as vibrant visions that command attention. These fantastical, multi-medium assemblages invariably evoke resounding "WOWs" and ear-to-ear grins.
Why do people have such visceral reactions to my guitars? I believe it's because guitars are more than just musical instruments; they are the lead instrument in life's soundtrack—emblematic archetypes of popular culture, epitomizing sensuality, masterful expression, and communal joy.
With over 40 years as a freelance creative director and professional touring musician, I bring a lifetime of creative pursuits to my assemblages. Self-taught in this medium, I transform fine instruments—new or rescued—into intricate sculptures, blending "found objects" with deliberate design. Each piece is a chronicle of transformation from high function to pure form.
My process evolves from serendipitous discoveries to refined, thematic designs, ensuring each sculpture is utterly unique. I strive to create eye catching sculptures that elevate moods, spark conversations, and transform spaces.

For over four decades, Rick Schettino’s life was defined by the resonance of strings and the rhythm of the road. As a professional musician Rick traversed the country, interpreting the world through sound while working remotely as a freelance creative director. Since retiring from touring, Schettino has transitioned his deep-rooted understanding of musical iconography into the world of fine art assemblage.
Leveraging forty years of design expertise, Schettino meticulously transforms reclaimed luthier-forms into "Wall Jewels." His process is an intricate meditation, hand-setting hundreds of curated artifacts to create singular statement pieces. His work hangs in private collections and luxury spaces across North America, serving as a visual crescendo in every room they inhabit.
